Propylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (PGME)
Other Names: PM, Propylene glycol monomethyl ether, 1-Methoxy-2-propanol; PGME; 1-Methoxypropan-2-ol; polypropylene glycol methyl ether; propylene glycol 1-methyl ether; PM; 1-Methoxy-2-hydroxypropane; Methoxy Propanol; 2-Methoxy- 1 -Methyl Ethanol.
CAS No.: 107-98-2
Molecular formula: CH3OCH2CH(OH)CH3
Propylene glycol methyl ether (PGME) is a clear, colorless liquid with an ether-like odor. PGME is completely soluble in water with moderate volatility. It is thermostable, not corroded equipment and has a low surface tension.
Use
PGME is often used as:
• solvent for various natural and synthetic resins, fats and oils;
• raw material for organic synthesis;
• deputy E – number of solvents;
• industrial cleaner.
